MUSCLE ACTIVATION weston

Discover Weston's Only Location for Muscle Activation Technique Training!

Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT) is a specific unique process for evaluating an individual’s ability to produce efficient muscle contractions.

Tightness in the body is a form of protection because of a muscle’s weakness—which leads to joint instability. When the body senses a certain area is unstable, it will “lock down” the area to protect against potential injury, therefore causing associated muscles to assist in “tightening” the area.

MAT is an innovative way to treat the neuro-muscular imbalances that cause pain and limit performance. Unlike other techniques, MAT gets to the root of the issue by addressing the weakness of the muscle, rather than muscle tightness. Helping men and women in Weston, Wilton and beyond feel and move better.

  • Increase mobility, control and ease of movement

  • Increase stability and strength

  • Decrease aches and pains

  • Relax tight muscles

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING MAT Results Fitness Weston?

Our dedicated trainers at Results Fitness Weston Weston will provide a range of motion assessment to identify imbalances and areas of compensation in the body. This technique includes:

  • Muscle testing for inhibited ‘weak’ muscles in the tight or protected range.

  • Treatment of the inhibited muscles to restore stability to the muscles working in that range of motion.

  • Re-test to ensure stability has been restored, enabling the body to handle the stresses place upon it by our everyday behaviors. Additional prescriptive exercises for self-help may be given.

HOW DOES MAT RESTORE PERFORMANCE?

Muscle Activation Technique does not massage or stretch tight muscles, but rather focuses on re-activating weak muscles and restoring strength and stability. When range of motion and muscle strength are improved to the point where they are balanced and symmetrical, performance can be greatly enhanced. For example, a MAT session before and/or after a round of golf can help prevent muscular imbalances and reduce potential injuries.

GOLF & TENNIS PLAYERS

Golf and tennis players around the world googled “What is MAT?” when PGA pro Bryson Dechambeau credited his MAT training at the 2020 Masters press conference — Read full article here.

  • For Tennis Players, MAT addresses tennis elbow, shoulder issues, tendinitis and bursitis.

  • For Golfers, MAT addresses back, shoulder, knee and hip pain or injuries. PGA star Matt Jones didn’t win a tournament for seven years but called out MAT as one of the elements that contributed to his 2021 Honda Classic win.
